I am a resourceful and productive scientist who takes pride and initiative in going above set objectives. I am a keen researcher who finds work within collaborative partnerships exciting. I am currently the Team leader of the IoT-ra lab (www.iot-ra.net formerly WIMEA-ICT lab) and a senior Lecturer at Makerere University undertaking teaching, research and consultancy related to applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to different development contexts. Under my leadership, the IoT-ra lab developed a number of innovative solutions including: i) a low-cost automatic weather station; ii) weather information dissemination systems; iii) weather data repositories and weather forecast models. These solutions were not only deployed in Uganda (in partnership with the Uganda National Meteorological Authority) but also in Tanzania, South Sudan, Ghana and Nigeria. I have also undertaken multi-disciplinary studies with colleagues from the Health, Agriculture and Electrical Engineering disciplines. The IoT-ra research lab has won research grants from a number of Development agencies, resulting into capacity building within the Computer Networks department, which I led for seven years. I have published widely with over 30 research articles and have supervised over 20 graduate students. I also serve on several boards including that of Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) and the UbuntuNet Alliance
I am married to Arthur J. Otim, the lead Pastor at Miracle Center Seeta Church and we are blessed with three amazing sons: Baraka, Ajabu and Amani. I lead the Excellent Ladies Ministry and my ministry passion is that each woman courageously presses on to their best self
